Trust me. Ever since I got to know about “blogging” I knew I wanted to give it a try. More than giving it a try, I just felt that I needed to put my thoughts out there, basically, I just felt like it’s “my thing”.
The idea of blogging first popped into my head way back in 2014 when I came across one of my favourite vlogger’s – Anna Saccone’s website. (She’s a vlogger and a blogger) Her blogs are beautifully put together and that drew my attention to becoming a blogger myself. I knew it was not easy, though it seemed very simple to start and to think I can ramble on anything I like. I kept thinking on this idea for a long time but I had no clue what my baseline should be and what exactly I need to put out there. I was afraid of starting up a blog and being judged by others. As much as I badly wanted to start on this work I was extremely terrified. I didn’t know what sort of audience I need to target or any of the basic facts of blogging.
I looked up to other bloggers and I was still clueless, making me feel that it’s not really my time to start a blog.
I kept procrastinating, until one day (Beginning of 2017) I met a beautiful lady named Elizabeth Totton who’s also into the “blogging thing”. We met at our workplace and were exchanging our thoughts on our daily work chaos and that’s the time I felt like sharing my idea of blogging. I never really shared my idea of blogging with anyone before so when I finally did with Lizzy (Elizabeth’s nickname) I knew I made the right choice.
She shared her own experience of blogging and how it can be a great thing to do and of course, she let me know that I can begin whatever I want to begin, however the way I know it! She shared great tips with me and ensured that I won’t give up on the thought of blogging. Well done, Lizzy!
Well, my blogging didn’t start right then. I still kept procrastinating and Lizzy kept following up with me and I always had a reason to tell her, and it was all about work, work, and work! I’m not sure if tiredness was an excuse but I knew I was always exhausted with work. By the time I finish work and reach home, blogging is the last thing on my mind. Mind you, I was also enrolled for my MBA and studying for that wasn’t easy either.
The procrastination went on for a long time until one day I decided that I really need to keep my never-ending tiredness and excuses aside and start working on my blog. I gathered a few topics which I really wanted to talk about at the launch of my blog (including this topic). I started working on these topics and guessed what, I LOVED IT! Words kept pouring from my mind and I was so excited to keep going.
& here I am! Typing this blog post and lovin’ it!
So here’s the thing, if you ever felt like doing something for yourself, just go ahead and do it! Never ever procrastinate and tell yourself “Oh I’ll just do it tomorrow or during the weekend” because tomorrow or weekend never comes. It. Never. Does.
There is never a perfect time or day to start something, so if you wait for the perfect moment, then I’m afraid you will probably wait forever. I am nowhere near perfect in blogging but giving it a try is what matters the most.
Whatever we do in life will never be 100% perfect, keep that in mind and do what makes you happy.
It is very important to follow what your heart says, and it really doesn’t matter what others have to say. Believe me, I know what it feels like to be afraid of doing something for the first time, in fact, we all do. But if you are really passionate about something and if that really makes you happy then what are you waiting for? Your passion is for you, so go ahead do your thing, and believe me you won’t regret.
With that being said, my post is coming to an end and I’d like to dedicate this post to Lizzy because it is she who encouraged me to get started and it is she who believed in me. I will never forget the encouragement I received from her. Lizzy, if you are reading this, Thank You!
Alright lovelies, I hope you liked reading my post and if you had similar experiences let me know, I’d love to hear your stories!
See you in my next post! 🙂
